Reliquaire is a family owned business in Latrobe, Tasmania run by Sylvia and Kim Christie, and their two daughters and sons-in-laws. The couple first opened the store in 1995, initially focusing on antiques and restoration, coffee and their famous homemade chocolate fudge. Being ex- teachers, they gradually incorporated educational and science-based toys as well as other areas of interest to them such as collectible dolls and teddies, and products that accentuated historic homes such as lead-lighting and bronze figurines. As their (then small) daughters grew, the girls' interests in fairies and fairy-tales also led to other themes being added to the store. The family have also been lucky enough to travel to Europe and America in search of unique handmade products to add to their ever-growing collection.
In 2015, the Christie family lost their original store to fire. The new shop was opened in 2017 - and is now a magical wonderland full of surprises. As you wander around you'll find candles and skincare, clothing and handbags, jewellery, baby gifts, Disney and Alice in Wonderland collectibles, Christmas ornaments, replica Medieval swords and helmets, kitchenware and cookbooks, games and puzzles, wooden toys, puppets, dinosaurs, Harry Potter and Doctor Who themed areas, as well as a cafe serving freshly made sweet treats and locally roasted Villino coffee.
