About Us

Hi,

Thank you so much for being here and supporting our family business! Luke and I are so passionate about bringing the very best products, gifts and homewares to North West Tasmania.

You’ll often see us around the shop, but outside of that we are parents to three boys, a giant dog, a cat and we love music and great food. We have always considered ourselves creative and love bringing that into your experience at Reliquaire.

Growing up in the store, I’ve always loved to see how much it is constantly changing and evolving alongside our family. It’s been such a joy to witness and have a part in such a magical store and I hope we can continue to bring this to Latrobe and Tasmania for many years to come.

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts,

This place really means the world to us.

Our Story

Reliquaire is a family owned business which began from humble beginnings in 1995.

Founders Kim and Sylvia Christie, initially focused on antiques, restoration, handmade dolls, teddies and coffee. As their (then small) daughters grew, their interests led to other themes being added to the store.

The new store, which opened in 2017 and owned by Lauren and Luke Vaessen, is now a magical wonderland full of surprises.

We’re constantly evolving and coming up with new and creative ideas to make Reliquaire a shopping experience like no other.

Inside a cozy, eclectic cafe decorated with hanging plants, chandeliers, holiday ornaments, and vibrant artwork. There are plush leather sofas, a small table with flowers, and a counter with a person in a plaid jacket. The space is warm and inviting with artistic and festive decor.
